Biography

David Spark is a new media consultant and
producer with more than twelve years
knowledge and experience as a journalist
reporting on the tech industry in print,
radio, TV, and online. His articles and
advice have appeared in more than 25
publications including eWEEK, Wired News, PC
Computing, PC World, and Smart Computing.
You may have seen Spark dispensing his
"how-to" advice and punditry on TechTV
(formerly ZDTV, now morphed into G4), a
cable station about computers and the
Internet. Watch his two minute on-air reel
from ZDTV/TechTV.

In addition, Spark spent ten years in advertising
and corporate entertainment as a new media
director and marketing creative. Most recently he left Publicis Dialog in San Francisco where he launched the agency’s custom publishing and new media divisions.

And just to add a little color, Spark squandered more than a dozen years working as a stand up comedian and comedy writer for Second City comedy troupe in Chicago.

Having the dual experience of covering tech and working in the advertising industry Spark formed a comfortable niche as liaison between the client world and new media vendors. As a journalist, a new media consultant, and currently an analyst for the Guidewire Group, Spark has spent years analyzing and fostering relationships with vendors who provide services in blogging, podcasting, mobile content, interactive TV, online video, social networking, Web 2.0 technologies, and in-game advertising.

Today, Spark can be heard on the radio every Friday in an afternoon news segment called the “Spark Minute” for the progressive talk station, Green 960 (960 AM – formerly 960, The Quake and part of Clear Channel and the Air America National Network) in San Francisco. In addition, Spark was the host of Sprint’s podcast, The Communications Insider.

David Spark lives in San Francisco, a city he loves so much he's become a local historian offering walking tours to locals and tourists. When you're in town, make sure to sign up for one of Spark's tours. He loves showing off the city.
